Mostly sunny skies, a brisk breeze and icy water greeted participants Tuesday in the annual Polar Bear Dip at Waterville. The tradition of a New Year’s Day dip in the Maumee State Scenic River dates back decades and attracts wide age group looking to start the year off in a memorable fashion. Dippers gather in a small park on the banks of the river before heading into the water and then quickly heading for some place warmer. (Photos: Shane Hughes/Sentinel-Tribune) SEE MORE PHOTOS |
